En mai 2015, JR travaille sur 15 bâtiments à Istanbul, une ville considérée comme un lien entre Europe et Asie, non loin de zones de conflits récents. Pour ce dernier chapitre du projet ‘The Wrinkles of the City’, JR dresse le portrait de personnes âgées qui ont vécu les transformations de leur ville - notamment la laïcisation d'Istanbul après 1924 - et agrandit leurs visages pour souligner les changements dans l'architecture de nombreux endroits de la ville. Les collages ont lieu dans les quartiers de Balat, Halac, Eminonu, Beyoglu.
