The ballet Brise-Lames featured at the Kyotographie festival

SEPTEMBER 18TH – NOVEMBER 17TH, 2021

As part of the 9th edition of the international photography festival "Kyotographie", JR is taking over a room in the Nijō Castle, in Kyoto, to exhibit his photographs of the ballet Brises-Lames by choreographer Damien Jalet, for which he created the set design and costumes.

The recording of the ballet, made in November 2020 on the stage of the Palais Garnier of the Paris Opera, completes the exhibition room's display.

Created in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brise-Lames is, according to Damien Jalet, "a metaphor for the power, vulnerability and resilience of those whore are in front line".

Built around the concept of the wave, the ballet is fully in line with the theme of this edition of the festival: ECHO.
