"JR: CHRONICLES", SAATCHI GALLERY, 2021
"JR: CHRONICLES", SAATCHI GALLERY, LONDON, UK
JUNE 4TH - OCTOBER 3rd, 2021
After an inaugural exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, JR: Chronicles moves to the Saatchi Gallery from 4 June to 3 October 2021.
Over the past two decades, JR has expanded the meaning of public art through his ambitious projects that give visibility and agency to a broad spectrum of people around the world. Showcasing murals, photographs, videos, films, and archival materials, JR: Chronicles is his largest solo museum exhibition to date in the UK.
This soaring multimedia installation traces JR’s career from his early documentation of graffiti artists as a teenager in Paris, to his large-scale architectural interventions in cities worldwide, to his more recent works at the Louvre and at the correctional center of Tehachapi, in California. All of the projects on view honor the voices of everyday people and demonstrate JR’s ongoing commitment to community, collaboration, and civic discourse.
